GSMA MWC 2015: SPB TV to exhibit ‘Mega Encoder’

SPB TV AG of Switzerland is a global leader in providing mobile TV, IPTV, end – to – end OTT solutions and has announced to showcase its latest technology in mobile TV at the MWC 2015, Barcelona on 3 days from 2nd to 5th march. The Intel based Mega Encoder will be launched by SPB TV at the exhibition. It combines the Quick Sync Video technology, Kontron SYMKLOUD and Media Server Studio from Intel with its own encoding methods. This combo enables the mega Encoder to achieve breakthrough transcoded multi – rate video streams for up to 100 HD channels and that too simultaneously. CEO of SPB TV –Kirill Filippov said that using the Mega Encoder not only increases the channel density but also cuts down the physical footprint, cooling and power consumption which is highly desirable by video operators.

Intel’s General Manager commented saying that they are thrilled to see that this collaboration would help a great deal in bringing HD video for IPTV and OTT throughout the world. Apart from these innovations, SPB TV will also demonstrate its latest OTT TV platform and its swipe feature and 4K encoding. This encoding scheme as SPB TV’s Media Platform’s part can be used by telecom operators for streaming and encoding of video in real time.

What makes switching among devices fun and easy at the same time is the multi – screen experience with smooth swipe feature. With this feature the users can easily swipe the content between a table and TV or a Smartphone or TV. Continuing with its advancement in present emerging markets, it will also launch a new service for South Asia. It’s going to present Pakistan’s Mobile TV – ‘Mobilink Mobile TV’ in collaboration with Nizara Communications and developed by SPB TV. It will provide one stop where you can watch any of pakistan’s popular TV channels. Imran Akhtar from Nizara Communications said that they would continue to work with SPB TV to serve 10 million plus subscribers and more features will be added in near future to make it available on many platforms.

With the emerging markets, the demand for mobile TV has also increased. Large subscriber base means more products, improved technologies and better ROI. Last year OTT TV Survey was released by SPB TV to share developments in Eastern Europe, South Asia, Africa and South America. Around 40 million people are subscribers of SBP TV’s OTT TV services. SPB TV is aimed at providing stable playback and video delivery across any type of network and has developed award winning UIs for mobiles, and TVs. It also provides tool s for effective monetization and features for interactivity.

These solutions are used by a large number of media companies and network operators including MTS, StarHub, Amedia and Beeline. The company has won many awards such as Google Developer Challenge, TV Technology Europe Star Awards, CSI Awards and Mobile Entertainment Awards to name a few.
