Low intensity IED Blast at Church Street in Bangalore

Bangalore, India — Church Street, One of the busiest places in Bangalore (Bengaluru). It was the last Sunday of the year 2014. People were out to have fun just like any other weekend. All of sudden around 8:30 to 9:00 PM a Low intense blast occurred around the Coconut Grove restaurant. Which killed a women and injuring three other people. Bangalore police commissioner MN Reddi Said it was a “Low intensity IED Blast”. On the footpath near this hotel.

Bhavani Devi, 38 year old resident from Chennai, was on Christmas vacation. Died due to blast injury on head. Commodore IndruWadhwani president of hospital said when the lady was brought to the hospital her head was injured severely. Doctor KanchanSanyal said injury was so severe that her brain was popping out while treating her.

Ramchandran Shetty, a police officer at the blast site, told Reuters that preliminary investigation suggested it was an improvised explosive device filled with shrapnel. Further Bangalore police have taken two people in custody for the investigation regarding the blast. The owner and guard of the paan shop nearby hotel. Rumors of three other blasts in the city have been ruled out as ‘mischief’ by Director General of Karnataka police L Pachau.

According to the Bangalore police commissioner there was “general threat perception in view of the festive season”. Chief Minister CM Siddaramaiah have announced a compensation of Rs.5 Lakh to the deceased women family.
