Microsoft’s Agenda To Enhance Internet Of Things: IoT

Like all the giant tycoons, Microsoft is set to enhance its presence in the Internet arena – Internet Of Things. It recently joined hands with the All Seen Alliance, which is a collective group of 50 companies working under a common roof. The aim of the All Seen Alliance is to encourage the various ways to ensure all connected home devices work together, as reported by Reuters.

All Seen Alliance has been propagated by yet another technology mighty Qualcomm, along with some major names in the field of technology which also includes Panasonic and LG Electronics. These companies have an endeavor to enhance the connected home devices via some standard protocols that will help gadgets and other smart wearable to communicate without wires with each other and without any interruption. Thereby ensuring smooth device communication.

The compatibility of devices, however is a huge issue, as day by day, the number of products which includes security systems, etc. have the enhanced feature of wireless communication and it is not necessary that they might work with each other.

As quoted by Reuters, Ben Stein, Analyst, Stancy Rasgon, said that there needs to be a standard for all as no one is willing to buy a television and then go to the hassle of searching compatible speakers. However, they are still in phase of experimentation for their Internet of Things (IoT). It’s early to know what it is eventually going to look like.

According to Computerworld, the nonprofit consortium, Linux foundation had started The All Seen Alliance. QUALCOMM has worked in the arena of device communication and has developed AllJoyn, which is a connection standard that helps the connected home devices and all smart wearable to communicate amongst each other smoothly.

The standard is maintained with the intention that companies can freely use their products without any hassles. On the contrary; there have been clashes between the tech industries on the finalization of the best protocol standards. An industry source, recently told, Reuters, that it is expected that their collective might have a serious rivalry soon, since the Qualcomm competitors have already planned to launch a consortium on similar grounds soon.
