Recently, it was in news that Amazon has been discussing payments business with PayPal. Well, now Amazon has hit a new milestone in this business. The company said that it now has 33 million customers using Amazon Payments. Just last year, the count was 23 million. Amazon Payments allows the users to use their Amazon account information to check out at merchant’s website. On the other side, the merchants can integrate Amazon Payments on their website.
Last year, Amazon opened this option to companies like Shopify, Future Shop, and PrestaShop resulting in more contribution to its business. In just 8 months of opening, 50 providers had signed up for the program. In later year, Amazon expanded its market to Spain, Italy, and France. It also ventured into government payments, insurance, charities, and digital goods. The company also noted that many its Prime service users are also using Amazon Payments. Out of the total transactions, 32 percent transactions were made from mobile devices. This is another hint to the growth of mobile commerce in coming days.
