Programme launched by Facebook for Students and App Developers

Under the partnership, Nasscomm and Facebook will together launch a programme by the name of ‘Leaders Building for the Next Billion’. The programme is aimed at helping app developers and students to build large – scale apps and websites which are innovative enough for the first time users. They will be provided with resources and financial as well as technical support. The programme is expected to run for six months duration and 10 developers would be accepted in to this programme after they have demonstrated their commitment to build for the next billion through an application progress. To build their business, Facebook wil offer them with financial, technical, marketing and personality development support.

Further the programme aims at connecting them to leaders and funders in the industry and media to show public their innovative solutions and impact they can have on the new-to-internet users. Facebook also thinks that the programme might inspire other developers too. Facebook will help setting up this program at Nasscomm and has invited other technology giants to contribute in expanding this programme. The participants can get support of up to $80,000.
For the programme 4 students will be selected from each of the 10-15 colleges through the application process and will build the relevant mobile apps.
