EditorSummersalt has 6 members namely the lead vocalist – Kitkupar Shangpliang, Duitara player – Ador Shangpliang, playback singer – Pynsuk Syiemiong, drummer – Dawadhok Shangpliang, bass guitarist – Baiaineh Shangpliang and electric guitarist – Gregory Ford Nongrum. A source on the sets of live act said, “The band has already composed a number for Rock On 2, a trans fusion track which is a mix of traditional Khasi music, rock, acoustic style, with a pinch of jazz-funk.”
Farhan set out for Shillong last week itself and yesterday Arjun Rampal also joined him. Shraddha Kapoor has been introduced as a new member of the band and will be travelling to Meghalaya next week. The sequel rock ‘n’ roll is scheduled to be shot for two months in Meghalaya.
The unit was welcomed by the state’s Chief Minister, Mukul M Sangma. He said that he is very keen on the film being shot in Shillong. He added, “We are delighted that the filmmakers have chosen our state instead of scouting for a destination abroad, because there is real beauty here too. We are happy to host him and his team.”
The previous movie was directed by Abhishek Kapoor and released in 2008. The rock musical drama ended with the band reuniting to give a final performance. One of the band members Rob (played by Luke Kenny) is diagnosed with brain tumor and later dies. Aditya (Farhan) and Sakshi (Prachi Desai) had a son who they name after Rob. The other two members i.e., Joseph Mascarenhas (Arjun Rampal) and Kedar Zaveri (Purab Kohli) start a record company together. Shujaat Saudagar is directing the second part. The sequel starts from where the first part ends. Marc Koninckx of Belgian will be making his Bollywood debut as the DOP of the film.
