Twitter Inc. has made an agreement with Google Inc. to access its data stream which would be making it easier for the tweets in getting into the search results according to the familiarity of people regarding the matter. This agreement means that the messages written by Twitter’s 284 million users of 140-characters’ length would be highlighted quicker and more distinctly by the search engine. They are hoping that placing the tweets in search results would be driving more traffic to Twitter. This would be resulting into selling the advertising to the visitors when they reach the website, and more importantly inducing them to register for the services.
On the search arrangements Bloomberg News reported earlier having said that the Twitter content would be showing up in Google’s search results in real time during the first half of this year. Google at the present showing tweets in its search results but it crawls the site for the sake of content. The plan basically revives a deal which the two companies first counterfeited in 2009. That arrangement failed after two years, however, it clarified that the content integration could not drive the substantial traffic to Twitter when the deal collapsed after two years. That integration could not generate adequate revenue or also was unable to induce the users for service registration according to the familiarity of the people with the matter.
That dissolution was also because of conflict between the two on how the Google would be using the data and on how the content of the Twitter would be displayed. In the mean while Google introduced G Plus which is a rival social media service that could have gained advantage from Twitter’s data integration into it. People used to say that Twitter wanted to limit the integration to search results but Google sought to utilize it through any of its products. It is uncertain how the latest arrangement terms contradict from the previous one which ended in 2011.
Twitter, in recent months, has said that it is aiming to construct the world’s largest daily audience. It is a goal which they are hoping to achieve by serving the users beyond the registered ones. They have recognized two additional audiences: one type is of the people who visit the Twitter but do not go for signing up with it and the other kind is of those who keeps on viewing Twitter content on other media properties.
This agreement with Google would be aiding the Twitter to deal with the former type by bringing the tweets in front of the nonusers. This week earlier, for the first time Twitter publicized the the plans of selling the ads outside its own platform by inking the deals with Internet Portal Yahoo Japan and Flipboard the news reading app.
Twitter has got some similar plans in place Yahoo Inc. and Bing of Microsoft Corp. The agreement news arrive a day before the Twitter is likely to report fourth quarter earnings. According to a unanimous estimate from Thomson Reuters analysts are expecting the user growth of Twitter to continue slowing at the same time they are expecting its revenue projection to climb up to 87% to $453.1 million from a year earlier.
