A partnership has been made between Indian OEMs – Karbonn, Micromax and Spice and Google for releasing the first set of handsets preinstalled with Android One. All three Smartphones have similar specifications including 1 GB RAM, 4.5” display, expandable storage, dual – SIM, 2 megapixel front camera and 5 megapixel rear camera. The handsets are powered by MediaTek 1.3GHz quad – core.
Google has introduced some localized features in the OS depending up on the region in which it being sold. For example, for India, the Google Play Newsstand supports Hindi and other local languages. Google has also entered in partnership with Indian carriers for data subscription offers to customers. After India, Android One has been released in other countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Philippines. According to reports Karbonn has already started working on second version of its Android One handset. However the launch date isn’t out yet. Google may announce something new about Android One in its I/O event this year. Lollipop is a major android update and introduces new design known as the material design which offers you better security, faster ART runtime and improved notification system plus many more.
