GSMA MWC 2015: Real world vIMS and vCPE demo

At mobile world congress between March 2nd – 5th Overture will give a full virtual demo of the vCPE and vImS as it announced on 25th February. Overture’s Open Services Architecture’s virtual network orchestration capabilities will be seen in this demonstration. The demo would also feature its harmony partner solutions – Intel, Spirent, Metaswitch network and Brocade. The demo will be given in Fira Gran Hall 2 and any service providers, industry analysts, media members and attendees can watch it. Overture CTO – Prayson Pate said that the ever increasing on – demand services in mobile and enterprise can only be supported by virtual networking environments that are driven by a software and there are some IoT services whose potential has still not been discovered. At the demo one can see apart from the virtualized offerings, the open source options for both COTS hardware and Overture 65vSE at the same time, overture’s harmony partners and how the virtual networks can be scaled and their agility and flexibility.

Real world vIMS and vCPE demo by Overture

Following functionalities will be featured in the demonstration:

Ensemble open services architecture: it is the first open architecture in the industry made for providing software defined services. It includes Ensemble Carrier Ethernet VNF, Ensemble Service Orchestrator (ESO) and the Ensemble service Intelligence.

Ensemble carrier Ethernet VNF: this open carrier – grade Ethernet offers the functionality which is same as that of the CE2.0 for physical Ethernet Access Device without requiring any purpose built proprietary hardware. It uses the DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) for achieving packet forwarding speeds better than those of the appliances in a virtual environment.

Brocade Vyatta 5600 vRouter: this is first virtual router capable of achieving rates up to 10Gbps and above. It can provide advanced routing solutions in virtual environment with the performance and reliability of hardware routers. This makes it a very cost effective solution. It uses the Brocade vPlane technology for leveraging DPDK separating forwarding plane and control plane and delivering amazing performance.

Metaswitch’s Clearwater IMS: an IMS implementation that uses web development methods and offers messaging, voice and video services to the users. It is a combination of economics of the Telco – grade communications’ reliability and OTT (over – the – top) style platforms.

Metaswitch’s Perimeta vSBC: this virtualized network function is capable of providing network diagnostics, tools for analytics and is unmatched when it comes to security for cloud – based services.
Overture 65vSE: this is the first open carrier Ethernet platform capable of hosting VNFs. It runs on Intel Atom processor C2000 coupled with DPDK and offers significant packets processing performance.

Spirent TestCenter Virtual: cutting edge solution that aims at optimizing the performances of SDN, NFV and cloud based services.

Overture aims at transforming the face of today’s dynamic communications with its Ensemble OSA which is the only open NFV solution offering analytics – driven control along with orchestration. OSA has the potential of making a revolution changing forever the way we communicate. Now headquartered in NC, Overture was founded in 200 and is now an industry leader in developing orchestration and control solutions.
