As history has it, Apple has always announced iPad releases in the month of October. Last year we saw the release of iPad Mini and iPad Air on October 22. The then new version of the Mac OS i.e., OS X Mavericks was also unveiled. Apart from this last time there were updates for MacBook Air and MacBook pro laptops too. But there have been no updates for the desktop Mac line since last year. Apple analysts have predicted the launch of new desktop Macs in this event that is being held at Apple’s Cupertino campus. The last year event was hosted at Flint Performing Arts Center which saw performances from stars like U2. This is the same venue where in 1984 the first Mac computer was unveiled by Steve Jobs. However this time the venue is the Cupertino’s Town Hall Auditorium which is much smaller than the previous one.
According to rumours the new iPads will be bigger when compared to the present big screen iPhones. According to some other reports, there will be a 12.9 inch screen ‘iPad Pro’. The new iPads might also have a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, which was earlier found only in iPhones.
Its been just a month that Apple revealed Apple watch, iPhone6 and iPhone6 plus in its extravagant presentation. The two devices recorded a sale of 10 million units in just 3 days. As for the iPad series launched back in 2010, it saw a lot of competition from the rival companies that released similar tablets. Among the rivalries, the most prominent one was Microsoft which released its tablet line by the name of Surface.
The tech giant’s shares have gone up by 0.8 percent at $99.56.
Since the launch of iPad, Apple has been dominating the tablet industry with a global share of 27 percent. iPads are the Apple’s second largest money maker. But nowadays iPad sales aren’t doing well and Apple needs to revitalize it. It has been declining since last year.
