Unlike other biggies of the Smartphone market in India, who release their flagship devices or their updates in a year or so, Sony seems to be following a contrary path. This is supported by rumours of the Xperia Z3 being launched in as early as this year’s September. However, the device’s release seems justified on the company’s part and is in line with its previous launch schedules with February 2013 marking the release of Xperia Z, and the update of the flagship, Xperia Z1 hitting the market in September of the same year. Exactly seven months from then, Sony released Xperia Z2 which is rumoured to be followed by its update Z3 – expected to debut at the IFA 2014.
Specifications of the Device
Can’t wait for its launch? We share with you what the Xperia Z3 is expected to be like.
Built and Exteriors: Expected to sport a metal frame, Z3 might have a mirror finish, rendered to it by the PVC coating. Allegedly, the phone is expected to be thinner than its predecessor, while housing all the more features and robust abilities to stave off dust, water and scrapes.
Hardware: On the hardware front, the phone is expected to be propelled by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, supplemented with Adreno 420 Graphics and 3GB of RAM. Sony took a distinguished route regarding its camera this time. Instead of piling up on the megapixels, the company chose to optimize the camera functionality while sticking to the same 20.7MP sensor.
Since the company saved some time on the camera, it allegedly utilised it in optimizing the performance of the device. Instead of focusing on the QHD, Sony has rendered the Xperia Z3 with a full 1080p HD panel with increased power and functionality.
Running on Android 4.4 KitKat, Z3 will be launched in Berlin in the annual consumer electronics trade show expected to be held from 5-10 September.
