The search engine giant Google is always looking to expand its business. So, it comes as no surprise that they have decided to start a domain registration service. Many might say it should have happened much earlier than it did. The domain registration service called Google Domains is in the testing phase and only a beta version is available. To use this service needs to request an “invite” from Google.
Research statistics show that 55% of the businesses don’t have their own websites; Google Domains is geared towards these businesses. Google domains, is an attempt to encourage small businesses to get started with their online presence. This project is handled by Google’s small business facing division.
For the moment, domain registration seems to be the only concern of the service, and Google has announced that web hosting will not be a part of the services. However, Google has forged a partnership with website building providers like Squarespace, Wix, Weebly and Shopify, which hints at future additions of storage and website buildings options to the service.

Not much information is available about Google Domains yet, but it will clearly be different from other domain registration providers. Unlike other providers, Google won’t charge for private domain registrations, on the contrary if someone decides to register their domain privately, Google will cover the cost for keeping their details private.
100 email addresses and 100 customizable sub-domains can be created for each registered domain, and once fully functional, Google Domains will allow buying, selling and transfer of domains such as .com .biz, .org etc. The service will be using Google’s own DNS server, so visitors are likely to get very quick response time while hitting a site registered to Google Domains.
