Secretary of the Interior Department lifted the ban on new coal leasing on federal land. This decision is a part of the new climate and energy executive order that president Trump signed on Tuesday.
One day ahead of the Maryland court ruling, federal judge in Hawaii, U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson, decided to freeze the travel ban in its entirety thus stopping it from going into effect on March 16th.
In Maryland the Trump administration is being sued by two refugee rights group in collaboration with the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Immigration Law Center.
The meeting comes at a time when tensions are high because of numerous factors such as deployment of the THAAD defense system by the US, the regular missile testing by North Korea etc.
The new lawsuit has been rewritten and it will likely be much harder now to put it on hold. The biggest obstacle against filing a lawsuit would be finding someone who has been negatively affected by the policy.
