Bangalore, India (November 16, 2024) – India Blockchain Week (IBW) 2024 is set to make a grand return from November 30 to December 8 in Bangalore, drawing some of the most influential figures in the global Web3 ecosystem. With over 100 events lined up, including the flagship IBW Conference, hackathons, and demo days, the week promises to catalyze the growth of blockchain adoption across industries while fostering collaboration between Indian innovators and international leaders.
Hosted by Hashed Emergent, a leading Web3 venture capital firm, IBW 2024 will provide a platform for developers, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to discuss the future of decentralized technologies and explore opportunities for cross-border partnerships. The event is set to feature a host of high-profile speakers, including Sandeep Nailwal, Co-founder of Polygon, Avery Ching, Co-founder and CTO of Aptos, Keone Hon, CEO of Monad, and Chen Fang, COO of BitGo, alongside key representatives from the Indian government.
A Growing Web3 Ecosystem in India
India’s thriving blockchain and Web3 ecosystem has garnered significant attention in recent years, driven by a strong community of developers, and entrepreneurs, and an increasingly favorable regulatory environment. The country’s growing focus on blockchain innovation is reflected in initiatives like the National Blockchain Framework (NBF), aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and security in digital governance and public services.
“The Indian government’s commitment to advancing blockchain technology is evident in initiatives like the Vishvasya Technology Stack, which offers Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) to support various blockchain applications. These efforts are creating the perfect environment for innovation and global collaboration,” said Tak Lee, CEO and Managing Partner of Hashed Emergent.
The Indian government’s evolving blockchain strategy is also being shaped by ongoing consultations led by the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) and key industry stakeholders, working to establish a clear regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies. IBW 2024 is poised to act as a vital forum for dialogue between policymakers and industry experts, paving the way for India’s leadership in the global blockchain space.
Exciting Events at IBW 2024
The two-day flagship IBW Conference on December 4-5, hosted at the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center, will bring together thought leaders from around the world to discuss the latest trends in Web3. Sessions will focus on India’s developer talent, regulatory challenges, and the future of blockchain in key sectors like finance, supply chain, and digital identity.
Avery Ching, Co-founder & CTO of Aptos Labs, praised India’s developer community, saying, “India is home to incredibly talented developers and leaders advancing Web3 in remarkable ways. It’s inspiring to see the impact builders in India have had on the entire Aptos ecosystem, and I hope to see even more builders after our activation at IBW this year.”
Meanwhile, Keone Hon, CEO of Monad, highlighted India’s growing role as a global Web3 hub: “India is at a unique inflection point in Web3 adoption, with its thriving developer community, commitment to entrepreneurship, and pace of economic activity. I am excited to speak about opportunities for Monad Labs to collaborate with the local Web3 ecosystem.”
In addition to the conference, IBW 2024 will feature several high-profile events, including:
- IBW Chain-Agnostic Hackathon: A collaborative competition encouraging developers from different blockchain ecosystems to work on innovative solutions.
- IBW Web3 Demo Day (Dec 4): A showcase of 15 leading Indian Web3 startups, allowing them to present their projects to a global audience of investors and industry leaders.
- ETH India Hackathon (Dec 6-8): One of India’s largest Ethereum hackathons, where over 1,500 developers will compete to build innovative decentralized applications.
A Platform for Collaboration and Growth
India is becoming a significant player in the global Web3 ecosystem, contributing to more than 12% of the world’s Web3 developers and housing over 1,000 Web3 startups, according to a joint report by Hashed Emergent and KPMG India. With sponsors like Polygon, Aptos, Starkware, and the Starknet Foundation, IBW 2024 is set to be one of the largest gatherings of Web3 developers, investors, and entrepreneurs.
“As a host of India Blockchain Week, we are committed to amplifying India’s thriving Web3 landscape on the global stage,” said Tak Lee, CEO & Managing Partner of Hashed Emergent. “We’re excited to return with the second edition of IBW, continuing our work to nurture and grow the Web3 community in India and other emerging markets.”
Last year’s inaugural IBW Conference featured notable figures like Vitalik Buterin (Ethereum), Jayant Sinha (Former Member of Parliament), and Sebastien Borget (Sandbox), setting the stage for more impactful discussions in 2024.
With the Indian Web3 ecosystem primed for exponential growth and the government’s active involvement in supporting blockchain innovation, India Blockchain Week 2024 is set to be a pivotal event for the future of decentralized technologies and global partnerships in Web3.
