Katamarayudu is a much anticipated telugu movie, just like any other movie that Pawan Kalyan acts in. After the debacle of Pawan kalyan’s last film Sardaar, fans are pinning their hopes on Katamarayudu which is released, today.
The movie has Shruti Haasan as the female lead and is directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasani. This is a remake of the Tamil film Veeram. Ajay, Siva Balaji, Kamal Kamaraju and Chaitanya Krishna act in the roles of lead character Rayudu’s four younger brothers.
Story
The film tells the story of Rayudu and his four brothers. Live in a village. He is a strict man with values and he has brought up his brothers to follow those values as well. He has not married because he believes bringing a girl in the family will disturb the dynamics. But his brothers have all found love, but they can’t get married if Rayudu doesn’t. The rest of the movie tells the story of how Rayudu meets and falls in love with Avanti (Shruti Haasan) and what follows.
Strengths
The biggest plus point of the movie is undoubtedly Pawan Kalyan. He carries the film well on his capable shoulders. His presence is so intense that once you come out of the theatre, you will probably have forgotten everyone else you have seen in the movie. Shruti Hasaan didn’t disappoint, the chemistry between the leads is quite visible and their scenes together were very entertaining. Other supporting actors have done their job well, but their performances are eclipsed by the sheer star power that Pawan Kalyan brings to the film. The first half has some good laughs and romance.
The action sequences are well choreographed and executed. Cinematography, screenplay and script are all quite good till the interval. As far as production values go, the film yes quite up to the mark. Camera work is excellent throughout the movie, but editors could have done a better job. The director has showed his best work in the first half of the movie, the songs don’t seem out of place and the scenes are well thought out.
Weaknesses
On the downside, the story is predictable and it makes the second half a little shaky. This half has more drama and action, and might seem unnecessarily lengthy. Two of the action sequences in the second half could definitely be edited better. The climax had nothing new to offer.
Verdict
All in all, this movie is a great entertainer set in a village setting. Pawan Kalyan dazzles and despite the predictability of the movie it doesn’t fail to entertain. The dialogues are good; the comedy in the first half is quite outstanding. It is a must watch for Pawan Kalyan fans. But someone looking for a good time will not be disappointed either.
