Quora had recently announced some changes regarding anonymity on the platform. While today, Quora doesn’t associates your name with any product when you post a question or an answer anonymously, its internal systems do have this knowledge. This makes it possible for Quora to send you notifications regarding updates to your posts. According to the new changes, the internal systems of Quora will no longer keep a track of anonymous user actions. These changes will be effective from 20th March, 2017.
Post 20th March, 2017, the old anonymous posts can be edited using an “anonymous edit link”. Such a link will be associated with every question or answer that you post after 20th March. Using this unique link, anybody visiting the post can edit it anonymously. Any edits made through some other URL will show the name of the person who edited the post. However, for the answers, the anonymous edit links provide the only way to make edits.
Quora also mentioned that for those who want to delete or edit your previously posted anonymous questions and answers, they need to provide their email address here before the new changes take place. On 20th March, Quora will email you the anonymous edit links for the existing posts. However, it is recommended that you do not share these links with anyone as anyone possessing this link can anonymously edit your posts. All the content will be retained by Quora including anonymous and public content. More about these changes can be read on Quora Product Updates Blog.
