Roy Albert Andrade – Californian Gangster to a best selling author

The irony of life cannot be better described than the story of the author of 2 best sellers, Roy Albert Andrade (RAA). The journey of RAA started on the streets of Pacoima in California State USA. The little kid was coerced into joining the street mafia in shades for his own safety and was engaged in anti-social activities like drug peddling, gang wars and soon the innocent Roy became a Killer. Though never accused of any wrong doing, his affiliation with the drug mafia earned him a sentence in jail which eventually turned out to be a new beginning in the life of the Author. The Author of ‘Cultivating the DNA of Crime’ and ‘Virula: Renaissance Outlaw’ fame once pursued ambitions of being a drug overlord and started his operations at the college levels and in nearing states to California. But, post his release from jail in 2008 RAA joined the University of Phoenix and found his solace in writing. Both of the crime fiction novels by him are international best sellers and they provide a fantastic first person perspective to individual’s lives that chose to tread down the wrong paths. However, the readers are left aghast with surprises when they read the books as the author playfully adds humor and pun content which people would generally not expect in crime fiction.
RAA used his time in Salina’s Valley State prison by joining various academic courses, self-help groups, and interviewing fellow prisoners about their stories to the various gangs and mafia.

The knowledge so gained is reflected in the writing style of the author which encompasses the readers and leaves them wanting for more at the end of each page. Since RAA himself was a part of the negative world, the first person perspective he gives on the lives of a gangster is an enthralling and unique.

RAA is known to be a firm believer in do-it yourself way of life. Reading Donald Trump’s ‘Think like a Billionaire’ changed his perceptions and way of looking at financial aspect of life. The most important factor for becoming a successful author is the motivational backing of a publisher. RAA found a friend and mentor in his first and only publisher, George Pryce. The duo of RAA and Pryce has been successful so far as both the books have been acclaimed and appreciated internationally. The duo are believed to be working on their third book which is expected be a sequel to the Virula series.

The Second book, ‘Virula – Renaissance Outlaw’ is the first book in the promised Virula series in depicts the life of street gangs and a sweet brewing love story amidst the chaotic scenarios.
