On Wednesday the authorities released photos of the fugitives to estimate what they would like while being on the run. The Police have had many tips on the fugitives but every time their hopes were dashed. In a bid to capture the fugitives the police have even announced a reward of $25000 per convict for information that would lead to their arrest. The US Marshals Service has added the killers to their list of 15 most wanted fugitives of the week. The US Marshals Service Director Stacia Hylton said,” There is no question David Sweat and Richard Matt fall into this category. While their brazen prison escape has left the public on the edge, it has only ignited our sheer determination to bring them back to justice.”
Among the two killers, Sweat was sentenced to life in prison for the 2002 killing of a sheriff’s deputy and Matt was convicted for lethally beating and dismembering a man in 1997, therefore being sentenced to a 25-year long term. Richard and David used power tools to cut through the back of their adjacent cells on June 6 and broke through a brick wall. They then cut into a steam pipe and glided through it. Finally they emerged out of the prison through a nearby manhole. Joyce Mitchell, who has been accused of helping the escaped prisoners is in custody and provided them with tools like chisels, blades etc.
A few instances of their sightings have been reported near the Pennsylvanian border. Other reports came in from the Governor of Vermont stating that the killers might have entered the camps there on June 6.
