PeeeM Shout, Anonymous Secure One-on-One Chat Feature

[Press Release] PARIS and NEW YORK – PeeeM, a next-generation anonymous and secure messaging platform, today announced that its PeeeM Shout feature has been released for iOS users. PeeeM Shout enables users of the PeeeM app to express themselves openly and connect with other users who comment and who are invited to chat directly with a user. The PeeeM Shout feature is the first anonymous chat tool that creates instant connections, and does not require users to share IDs from other social networks.

PeeeM was released for Android devices earlier this year. PeeeM is free to download and use and is available on the iTunes App Store and for Android devices at Google Play.

PeeeM Shout, Anonymous Secure One-on-One Chat Feature, Released on iOS

Unlike other anonymous chat tools – such as Secret or YikYak – PeeeM Shout enables users to maintain conversations, in private, with users with whom they have connected. PeeeM Shout is a social messenger that can be used to enhance 2nd screen, anonymous comments around events – whether TV shows or sporting events – and organizes greater degrees of freedom for group conversations. PeeeM Shout is gaining traction in Saudi Arabia, for example, where users avoid repressive government censorship. Unlike existing chat services, such as WhatsApp, or ephemeral services, such as SnapChat, PeeeM Shout can be integrated into other applications or content, such as games, forums, or basic P2P communication.

PeeeM is created with a “privacy by design” methodology, so no information is stored on the company’s servers. An earlier version of PeeeM garnered more than 2 million global users, with more than 1 million daily messages and an average of 350,000 daily connections. PeeeM is targeted toward users of all ages, with a particular focus on the 13-20-year-old market, which represents approximately 65% of the total user base. Approximately 60% of PeeeM’s users are female.

PeeeM introduces new behaviors such as connecting anonymously one-to-one or by group around shared interests, causes, or locations. Users can share their PeeeM ID on the PeeeM network – or other social media networks, such as Twitter or Facebook – to launch affinity groups, friendly chats, or creative collaboration. PeeeM, for example, enables brands to deliver stickers, through companies such as Feeligo, to enhance engagement through PeeeM Shout conversations.

PeeeM also combines an innovative peer-to-peer (P2P) file transfer feature that enables any file – whether images, audio, video or other- to be securely shared between individuals or groups.

“PeeeM Shout is a way for people to communicate anonymously without hiding. It enables anonymous messaging users to connect broadly, but privately, on social media. Not ephemeral, not intrusive, no hiding because it is still a messenger,” said Christophe de Courson, co-founder and CEO of PeeeM. “Shout is a place where you can launch any subject in front of everyone. All PeeeM users have access to your Shout and can write comments on it. You ‘Shout’ to the PeeeM world your thoughts on any subject. You are literally Shouting to the world on your subject or your thoughts, but doing so in a secure anonymous manner.”

PeeeM provides users with a unique PeeeM identifier (PMiD), and does not require an e-mail, phone number, or address book sharing. There are no ads or marketing campaigns on PeeeM. PeeeM Shout enables users of PeeeM to more easily connect with other users directly and instantly; users are not obliged to share their PeeeM ID on the social network. PeeeM Shout enables PeeeM users to launch a topic in front of a larger group of people and have every PeeeM user comment on it.

PeeeM, originally developed in 2013 as a chat service, gained traction in the Middle East and in Europe in its earlier version. The company leverages proprietary software and cloud service management to deliver rich communication that was previously only available for PC users. PeeeM co-founder and CTO Morgan Segalis created a secure chat service for iOS leveraging the kind of communication favored by users of the BlackBerry Messenger platform, combined with the open communication popularized by Internet Relay Chat (IRC) in the first wave of the Internet. PeeeM has been designed from scratch as a new P2P protocol, enabling users to call and transfer files without storing the information on any server.

“PeeeM Shout is a feature that users have asked for, enabling greater flexibility in their anonymous communication, with no boundaries, and no technical constraints,” said Segalis. “The next generation of mobile communication will be, increasingly, anonymous, yet will rely on the benefits of geolocation and dynamic app tools.”
