STEP Conference 2015 comes to an end

Four years ago when the STEP Conference was held for the first time, it was a small conference with dreams of getting bigger and better. And since then they have come a long way. And Ray Dargham, the founder of STEP guarantees that the growth of the STEP Conference is not going to stop. And if they can maintain the same pace of growth then he thinks by 2017, STEP would be the biggest tech and start up conference in the Middle East with 10,000 global attendees.

This year’s STEP Conference – STEP 2015 was the biggest yet, with 2,000 attendees and 70 thought leaders. The conference covered over 15 topics. One of the biggest features of the conference was the debut of the Lykan Hypersport. Priced at $4.3 million, it is the 3rd most expensive car in the world. The car has been designed and built by Ralph Debbas in Dubai.

BMW’s tie up with the Dubai police through ConnectedDrive SOS was also revealed in the conference. And the soft drink company Pepsi delivered chilled soft drink cans to the attending by using drones. Most of the big names in Technology in the Middle-East were present in the conference. Digital and social media bigwigs like Jeremiah Owyang, Dave McClure and Mike Butcher delivered keynote speeches which were well appreciated by the attending crowd.

The conference boasted three themed stages. The main stage was for the successful start ups in Middle-East and digital gurus. The second stage or the BMW stage featured Design Track, Gaming Track and BMW ConnectedDrive. The third dedicated stage was the Workshop where inspirational workshops were held by a group of tech experts on various technological topics.

Jeremiah Qwyang who captivated the crowd with his keynote on collaborative economy said that he will be back on STEP in the future. He said. There is a real opportunity for technology and especially mobile technology in Dubai. This place is young and tech-savvy and judging by the age group here at STEP 2015, that there is a potentially bright future for the many young tech start-ups here. I’ve only been here a short while but it is clear that this is the front edge of innovation. I will definitely be back.”
