The website is even used by bloggers and photo researchers for hosting images that they can share on their feed. According to reports from The Verge, around 87 million people use Flickr and daily around 3.5 million images are uploaded. One can access photos and videos without an account but for uploading content to Flickr you need to have an account. You also get the facility to add other Flickr users as your contacts. Flickr app is available for platforms including windows OS, windows Phone, iOS, android and PlayStation Vita. The uploaded images are stored in your photostream which can be viewed as a slideshow, detailed view, date stamped view or justified view. You can view any image in interactive photopage by clicking on it. It also shows comments, embedding link and other related data. The uploader or the other users can tag the photos if permitted by the uploader. Flickr is one of the early websites to use the tagging feature. Geotagging is also possible, thanks to imapFlickr. You can even embed the resulting map in your website. Albums can be further classified under collections which can again be classified under higher – order collections. The photos can be organized in to albums. But here one photo can belong to multiple albums. Instead of following traditional physical hierarchy, Flickr albums are based on categorized metadata.
