And the six executive in charge of newly added product areas will now report to Pichai, Google product chief instead of reporting directly to Lary Page. And “The move seems born of Page’s concern – which is not new – that Google will become less innovative as it ages,” the magazine said. And Larry Page in a memo to staff noted that these changes will help him to focus & make him more attentive on existing & new products.
But YouTube was left from this list of centralization & this large independent video unit’s CEO Susan Wojcicki as earlier will report Page. This move from any angle is not for promoting Pichai, Google’s new product chief but instead to Page. But Pichai from the starting of managing Chrome he was well recognized even in the outside circle of Google. Many years ago itself Twitter has made trials to recruit Pichai for its key product role. Even Pichai’s name has been in the search list of new CEO for Microsoft before the episode of finalization of India-born company person Satya Nadella.
Pichai belongs to southern state, Tamilnadu in India. He was born in Chennai in 1972. He joined Google in 2004. Pichai worked at Applied Materials & at Mckinsey & co in the past years. He is a prodigy of Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University & the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
Venture capitalist Om Malik, a former blogger, tweeted on the news of Sundar Pichai became the Google’s new product chief: “Proof nice guys can win.”
