Windows Live Messenger will be shut down on October

Microsoft is going to end one of its most known and most popular messengers – Windows Live messenger software this October. The 15-year old messenger will be completely shut down on October 31st. Microsoft has already started stopping the services for messenger globally in April 2013, and is available only in China till the complete shutdown. A survey according to the BBC the windows messenger which was launched in the year of 1999 reached a target of 330 million users by the year 2009. Microsoft has switched off its messenger services to most of the users in 2013, after it has bought rival Skype and windows messenger is merged with Skype.

As the Skype raise their users to 300 million by the year 2012, the windows messenger users came down. MSN messenger has supported access to AIM. Additional features were always added to the MSN messenger as it grew its popularity among the users. It started added many features like emoticons, games and a nudge feature that shakes the chat window. In the year 2005 Microsoft changed MSN Messenger to Windows Live Messenger, which will be totally shutdown on Oct 31st 2014.
