Galaxy S5 Mini has been in the works for a while now and so when Samsung finally launched it, it came as no surprise. However, the mini version of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S5 is surprisingly packed with features. Unlike other “Mini” versions of larger devices, galaxy S5 Mini has many of the features available in its larger version including fingerprint scanner, heart rate monitor and near identical design.
Galaxy S5 Mini is the latest in the long line of Samsung’s S5 smartphones which include Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy K Zoom, and Galaxy S5 Sport.
This version of S5 comes with 4.5 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels; this is a remarkable improvement over the Galaxy S4 Mini. The handset also comes with IP67 certification for water and dust resistance. The heart rate monitor is located at the back and the home button doubles as fingerprint scanner.
The phone comes with a 1.4GHz quad-core processor; the new Exynos 3470 chip is making its debut. Galaxy S5 Mini has 1.5GB RAM and 16GB internal memory. As expected, the handset comes with Android 4.4 KitKat. In the connectivity front, there is Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, USB 2.0, A-GPS + GLONASS, and IR Remote connectivity. The compact device packs an 8 mp rear camera with LED flash and a 2.1 mp secondary front camera. The handset has a dimension of 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1mm and weighs 120g. The phone is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery.
