Apple rolls out iTunes U update

Apple has announced roll out of new features and updates to iTunes that will allow educators and learners to build and use educational content on iPad. From 8th July, teachers can create, edit and manage courses on their iPad by using the iTunes U app. And students can start discussions and collaborate with their peers through their iPads.

Teachers can now import contents from iWork, iBook Author or any other numerous educational apps that are available in the Apple App Store. They can create full courses and even incorporate photos and videos into the course material by using the camera on their iPads. Teachers in 69 countries can use the app to create courses or educational contents which will be available in 155 countries through iTunes U app.

Students who have enrolled in private iTunes U courses will now be able to collaborate better with their teachers and classmates, provided they have an iPad. They will be able to follow classroom discussions or start new discussions, join discussions on new topics. They will receive notifications when conversations on new topics are started or replies are posted on existing questions. Educators will have access to forums and the authority to moderate conversations.
