Pepsi IPL 2014 – KKR battled KXIP this Wednesday and made it to the finals of the Indian premier league by beating them by 28 runs. We witnessed a great fast bowling show by pacer Umesh Patel who also stole the limelight. KKR while defending their 164 managed to keep Kings XI Punjab at 135/ 8 for 20 overs. Thanks to smart bowling of Piyush Chawla and five wickets by Morkel and Yadav. This is the 8th victory of KKR scoring 163/ 8 with 30 ball 42 from the opener – Uthappa. The orange cap holder once again proved his skills and hit 2 sixes and 4 boundaries.
The match was totally interrupted by rain. It started drizzling when KXIP had played 3.2 overs with 17 runs. Manan Vohra tried to turn the Duckworth – Lewis equation in favor of his team by hitting 2 consecutive sixes. But the equation again turned against them when Morkel dismissed Vohra in the successive over. Yadav trapped Glenn Maxwell – the danger man of KXIP. However Saha managed to stay longer in the game and showed some great strokes. But again Morkel made sure he doesn’t go far. Akshar Patel and Karanveer Singh – the two spinners shared 5 wickets in an attempt to get their team on the top. However the damage done to KKR was recovered by Pandey and Uthappa who made 65 runs from 42 balls.
