Application for the 20th Youth Assembly opens on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. EST. The attendees are all exceptional youths with a vision.

The Youth Assembly at the UN was started in 2002. It grew out of Friendship Ambassadors Foundation’s cultural exchanges around the world. Friendship Ambassadors Foundation non- profit, non-governmental organization formally associated with UN Department of Public of Information. When it began, the Youth assembly was a once early event that has expanded into a conference that happens twice a year now; the winter assembly happens around February and the summer conference happens in August.

The Youth Assembly is a unique platform that owes its continued existence to a group of dedicated core staff as well as volunteers and organizations. They work tirelessly to ensure this platform continues to foster dialogues and partnership between talented youth from around the world.

This year’s upcoming conference marks 15 years for this Assembly and it will be the 20th conference so far. Since its inception, about 14,000 youths from over 100 countries have taken part in the assembly. The attendees are all exceptional youths with a vision. The Assembly’s goal is to provide a means of realizing their visions by helping create important connections. The YA promote sustainable development through partnerships between exceptional youth, civil society, the private sector, and the United Nations.

The delegates are chosen from over thousands of applicants; every year youths from at least 70 countries attend the conference. This year’s winter conference was held from February 1st to 3rd and saw 700 youths from 85 countries share their ideas about tackling global issues. The Youth Assembly is working towards empowerment of youth and providing them with the necessary training to become global leaders in the future.
