The picture is now becoming clearer and the UK police have said that they have detained eight people in connection with the attack across the country.

On Wednesday around 2.40 pm a deadly attack took place outside the UK Parliament. The assailant was driving a SUV and had a knife. He mowed down hapless pedestrians and stabbed a police officer. So far 4 people including the perpetrator of the attack has died, and more than 40 people have been injured in the chaos that followed.

The assailant hit pedestrians on Westminster Bridge killing two instantly and injuring many others, one of the injured died in the hospital later. After the first rush the car then crashed into a railing. The assailant then exited the vehicle and approached the Parliament wielding a knife. There he stabbed and killed an on duty police officer and was shot to death by the police. This is probably the worst terrorist attack that Britain has seen in over a decade and it came on the anniversary of the Brussels suicide bombings that killed 35 people including the 3 bombers.

One day after the attack, the picture is now becoming clearer and the UK police have said that they have detained eight people in connection with the attack across the country. Armed police raided six properties located in London and Birmingham. They arrested three people during the raid from a second-floor flat above a row of shops on Hagley Road. The area was cordoned off for several hours and though police hasn’t confirmed anything yet, It is believed that the attacker lived in that flat.

A witness who works nearby said, “The man from London lived here.” referring to the assailant. “They came and arrested three men.” he added.

So far it seems that the assailant was a lone wolf who was working alone he was inspired by international terrorism. The police have not yet released his identity however they say that they have no information to suggest that any threat to public remains.

Prime Minister Theresa May said in a statement that the attacker was a British citizen who was a known figure to police and security services. He had been investigated by MI5 previously but currently wasn’t part of the intelligence scenario.
