LG revealed its Modular Smartphone G5 at MWC 2016

LG unveiled its first modular smartphone LG G5 at Mobile World Congress 2016. This highly anticipated smartphone showcases a whole new sleek “Modular” design featuring metal body and battery that can be slide out. The new LG G5 comes with LG Friends, a group of companion devices. LG G5 proves to be the next best bet for photographers – it can be turned into a digital camera! Yes! It can also be used as a Hi-Fi player. The phone has a sleek aluminum uni-body and with the slide-out battery  feature it becomes easy to swap the uncharged battery with a charged one. G5 also promises an improved visual experience over its predecessor LG G4.

G5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Processor which is the most advanced processor by Qualcomm. Moreover, Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 allows incredibly fast charging. The phone has two rear cameras, which again puts LG on top of mobile camera technology. One with standard lens and other with 135-degrees lens. This is widest lens a smartphone has ever had. G5’s 135-degree wide angle lens gives you option to choose between standard and wide angle shots. Secondly, the phone has an always-on display allowing quick glance at time, date and notifications. The display features the 5.3 inches 3D Arc Glass screen with a smooth curve and striking metal surface.

The uni-body of the phone also encapsulates the insulative antenna. The Shiny cut edge of the body and its comfortable grip take the design of G5 one step further.

LG G5 is the company’s first modular smartphone.

LG’s CAM Plus module is a versatile camera module that offers a comfortable grip when attached to the battery slot. In short, it gives you comfort of a standalone camera. Plus, it has physical buttons for shutter, power, record, LED indicator and zoom.

Need to play music loud? LG’s Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play allows you to enjoy top sound. It stands out well with its Scandinavian design and Hi-Fi sound technology.

LG has introduced a wide range of companion devices with G5 including LG 360 VR (a VR Goggle that can be attached with the G5 and it simulates a 130-inch TV), LG 360 CAM (a compact 360-degree camera), LG Rolling Bot (this rolling ball is more of a 8 MP which can be used for monitoring home and pets.), LG Tone Platinum (a Bluetooth headset that delivers exceptional sound quality), H3 by B&O PLAY (high-end earphones), LG Smart Drones (allows you to control drones) and LG Friends Manager (this manager connects to all the Friends devices and allows you to control and monitor them.)

Juno Cho, CEO of LG Electronics said, “The new LG G5 will encourage owners to rediscover the true joy of a mobile life. The G5 and LG Friends are the result of many experts inside LG asking themselves if it was still possible to be innovative and unique in the smartphone space. I think once customers spend a little time with the LG G5, their answer will be a resounding yes.”
