Update: Search Analytics Report in Google Webmaster Tools

This new update in the Webmaster Tools was first mentioned in the Google Webmaster blog. This update aims to provide a Website developer with a deeper understanding of what the users think about their content, or how their mobile site is faring in comparison to their website. Search Queries report, which is the most used Webmaster tool feature listed traffic Analysis data for websites earlier, but with the introduction of Search Analytics, this feature has undergone a sea change. Now the search data can be used in various ways to measure a website’s performance.

Google has taken note of the feedback and requests made by the users and have included many of the features that the users have been asking for.

Some of the key features of Search Analytics report:

  1. A mobile website’s traffic before and after April 21st can now be compared in order to find out how Google’s “Mobile friendly update” launched on April 21st has affected the traffic  in that site.
  2. Users who have international websites can now find out in which countries they have the most audience. They need to choose “Impressions” as metrics and then filter by brand name. in order to get more precise results, the results can be grouped by country.
  3. The traffic to mobile websites before and after 21st April can be compared to find out how Google’s “mobile friendly update” has affected traffic.

These are only a few of the features that the new Search Analytics has. Google claims it is far more accurate than the older Search Queries report and offers more flexibility to the user to analyze and use the traffic data any way they please. The Search Queries will be functional for another 3 months in order to help users transition smoothly.
