Enrico Thanhoffer (Munico) – The Architect Who fell in Love with Art

“An architect with a passion for painting” is the perfect way to describe well known Italian architect Enrico Thanhoffer. He is a native of Como Italy where he was born on 24th May 1965. He has a master’s degree in architecture which he completed in 1993. He opened his own studio two years later and in the same year he started working for the City of Como as an architect. He held that post for a decade.

Enrico Thanhoffer (Munico)

Enrico Thanhoffer is known as Munico in the art world and though he is an architect by profession, his love for painting is no less. Although architecture and art are two completely different things, they have one common thread; creativity and Thanhoffer believes that has interest in painting has served him well in his architectural ventures. Thanhoffer’s philosophy is that art isn’t just about representing New Things; it is about Representing the News. And the job of an artist is that of a newspaper boy who brings the news to the public.

Thanhoffer has of late become a renowned painter and received several awards and accolades and won various competitions. But his greatest achievement lies in inventing a new painting technique that incorporates abstract with figurative geometry. The amalgamation has much in common with Hilbert Spaces. The name of this technique is Globismo and each one of Thanhoffer’s paintings features this technique. Asymmetric symmetry is also visibly present in all his paintings. Though he is a painter, he is most assuredly not a typical one. Unlike other painters, his paintings are realized using computers and not paints and brushes.
