Google Glasses or Apple Watch: what excites you more?

The technology giants Google and Apple have had many battles on and off the market to emerge as the dominant force in the technology industry and the tussle is still going on. It is rather a good thing too especially for consumers as in their bid to surpass each other; the two companies come up with exciting gadgets. Both Google and Apple have taken this to the next level by launching Google Glass and Apple’s Watch. Both the companies are pressing hard in the media trying to gain as much as attention for their product.  However, the products are quite disparate.

While Google has been the first to unveil the design of its futuristic product, Apple is keeping it a secret as always. The rumors have started floating around the launch dates, features and specifications of the Apple Watch. Earlier it was revealed by Apple that the core body of the Watch is built in such a way that they can include various sensors, biometric components, GPS modules, NFC antennas, Bluetooth packages, proximity detectors and others. It was also said to have a 2.5-inch display and collect health-related data of users.

On the other hand the Google Glasses, a computing headgear, gives you the ability to record videos and take pictures. It helps you to find directions which can be a very helpful feature in times of need. The design of the glasses is also comfortable for a person who does not wears glasses regularly. Despite being different in looks and uses, both the gadgets can perform some similar tasks like, telling time, handling basic searches, getting notifications/alerts, sending e-mails or messages and voice and also accepts touch input. However, there are a few areas where Google glass is way more advanced than the Apple Watch. The Goggle glass can help the user to navigate, taking pictures or videos and probably the best feature of Google glass is its ability to take control over other devices. Some people had concerns over reading something that is this close to your eyes. Apparently people have been able to do it without effort, so that should not be major hurdle in its success.

The Google glasses can be a worthy asset but there are still some things that the Apple Watch can do and glasses can’t. The Apple Watch can be worn almost all the time, even shower or while sleeping, without any major problems. It can record daily activity, issue vibrating alerts, has a kinetic battery charger and perhaps the most amazing feature that a shopper or a businessman can wish for, making payments using Apple Pay. The analysts have already expected a good future ahead for Apple Pay so it would affect the success of the iWatch in a positive way.

The biggest question that still remains is the price comparison. The notorious Apple tax could push the pricetag to $250 or even $300. This is quite low when it is compared to the price of Google Glasses, the price of which is about $1500, although the consumer model will supposedly be sold for less than this.

The success of both the gadgets will largely depend on the respective companies policies and mood of the consumers.
