She won 12 titles in her twenties, she won one in her teens and now she marked a record fifth win of Gland Slam titles in her thirties. She turns 33 in this month, she remains the oldest world No.1, and she have spent 204 weeks at the top and still counting. She may also over take the persons on the all-time Grand Slam title board of Navratilova and Chris Evert leaving only Margaret Court (24) and Steffi Graf (22) behind. She has beat Caroline in 75 minutes of play. She said “After Wimbledon I was just so disappointed.” She has won 26 titles and just lost 17 matches after she came back in June 2011 having recovered from pulmonary embolism. After Chris Evert, Serena is the second woman to win six US Open titles and three in a row in New York. Williams said “I never dreamed that I could be compared to Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. I was just a kid with a dream and a racket living in Compton.” she added. It is her fifth Gland Slam title without dropping a set.
Mean while though Wonzniacki didn’t leave New York with a first major title but she is placed back in the top 10 and she has to prove plenty of her in the next coming games. She said “I have a great two weeks here. I have plenty really well this summer. I have won so many matches and Serena has stopped me three times. They say three times lucky, and I was hoping for that day. Hopefully I can finish off the year strong and have a good start to next year.”
