Google has given a clarification that this new renaming or rebranding will make its already existed brands still more & more strong & will make those Google tools, products & also services still rank high & make them still more demanding. And by renaming or rebranding the Google’s each & every tool, product & service with a tag or appendage: “for work”, Google wants to give the hint & explain in a simple way what the tool is meant for or what purpose it serves. Thus, Google has taken this drive for work.
All these efforts are meant for gaining more market by vending its tools, products & also services. And also to improve its share in its enterprise & in its productivity circles. Google also aims & focuses this drive of “Google for Work” as a marketing strategy against its competitor “Microsoft” out of all other firms. And recently Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella came up with a new slogan for his company, saying that it would focus on ‘productivity and platforms.’ So Google too considering & following in the similar lines. Even Box, Dropbox and Apple too have their own parts in this particular drive.
Amit Singh, Google’s president of its enterprise efforts, told the media that: Drive for Work, the company’s cloud storage play for business customers, is currently picking up around 1,800 new customers per week. He also indicated that 60 percent of Fortune 500 companies currently use paid Google for Work services.
Google has been too strategic & tactical in setting-up the prices of cloud computing & cloud storage. And at the same time Google offering commodity tools at the basement prices. Even Amazon too has lowered their prices. From this point of view, here’s the logic that goes all behind the Google’s business strategy is: due to the less revenue the companies gain from commodity cloud services reduced offering rates, there will be more chances for the companies to market their services like storage & compute tools. Thus, Google plans to conquer both sides of the market.
