The common perception about Google is that it is the God Almighty of the processing power but in reality it is not. That is why it fails to use the optical character recognition while reading the text, the image processing techniques could have been used in order to recognize the pictures. Why only that Google could also transcribe the videos which they receive online every day. Hence we understand why the company needs to judiciously plan out its limited processing power and maybe that is where the Authorship initiative did not measure up.
It is worth mentioning that the rise of mobile dependency might also be a concern for Google. As half of Google traffic nowadays gets rooted from mobile devices, wastage of screen space for this markup is suicidal to say the least. So what should we consider, Google will put a stop on the entire concept, maybe not. As per Google the concept has not failed but the ways of implementation has and it needs to figure a way out. In order to redefine the semantic search process, it will now develop or devise ways about how to identify different entities. This theory gets reinforced by Google’s knowledge Vault Project announcement. Though it remains to see how the users will notice the difference, not much though as it will be very subtle. Will the user visibly see the Author rank, maybe they would but the company will make it highly personalized alternately it will be blended in with factors. Well now is not the time to get bothered with that, as of now let’s just rejoice the freedom we have got and wait for the fure to unfold in its due course.
