As per the letter sent by Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, and his team to the employees, the organization is planning big steps for cultural change within the firm.
In past, Microsoft has been known to be a challenging work place due to the office politics, employee divisions and infighting. Predecessor of Nadella, Steve Ballmer, had also tried to make changes with his One Microsoft policy. However, in letter sent by Nadella, it is yet not clear if he wishes to work further on One Microsoft or sets new changes. Though, the letter strongly talks about the requirement of changes in the organization for it’s effective functioning.
As per the letter, he is ready to consider all kind of strategies for the shift in culture so that the best work can be done by productive and ambitious employees. With growth of organization, the employees and their responsibilities will evolve too, and this will lead to change in priorities and demands. New employees will join with new ideas and skills and demand simplified policies. He also demands ideas and support from employees if they want to grow and flourish with Microsoft.
Bill Gates, Satya Nadella and Steve Ballmer, with other CEOs of organization want to modernize their engineering process so that they match the modern needs and demands of the ever thriving market. With this, they plan to give applied science and data resources to each engineering group so that they can work on predicting future needs and trends so that better innovations can be made.
They want to motivate people to change themselves, so that it can bring in collective improvement. The policies of change will be cultural, meaning it will be for all. Usually people think that the change is required from all, except them. However, the reality demands all to adopt new approach and work together so that they can make Microsoft a much better place.
Now, we will have to wait and watch the changes that Nadella will impose and how those will help in accomplishing their goals, to improve the culture of Microsoft.
