However, the sales dipped for the month of June showing a 5.7% decrease in sales. Last year in June 12,541 units were sold, but this year the number is 11,827. Though no explanation was given for the dip in sales, the hold up in sales of the new R 1200 RT equipped with ESA due to defective rear shock absorbers could be partially responsible. Despite this decrease in sales, the company is well on its way to achieve a record number of sales for the whole year.

BMW R 1200 GS sold nearly 15,000 units in the first six months of 2014 and it remains the best selling model. R 1200 GS Adventure sold 9,708 units and is in the second position followed by R 1200 RT with a sale of 7,420 units. The newly launched R nine T, whose sales started in March exceeded expectations with 4,114 units sold till June.

14th Motorrad Days held last weekend in Garmisch-Partenkirchen showcased all the BMW Motorrad models. Almost 40,000 people attended the BMW motorcycle event. The motorcycles were a big hit and numerous test drives were taken. The attendees were also quite impressed by the electric drive and superb dynamic performance of the maxi scooter C evolution.
