Craig Hayman was recently hired as the president of eBay Enterprise. He was employed at IBM’s Industry Cloud Solutions and WebSphere businesses earlier. He worked for IBM in leadership roles for the past 15years.
When IBM was campaigning to provide software-as-a-service, Craig Hayman led from the front. Software-as-a-service allows users to access software they have subscribed to through the web instead of installing the software in their data centers. The service was introduced by IBM in May 2012 and is a complement to the licensed IBM Websphere software which is used by online retailers like Staples Inc, Sears Holdings Corp., Liberty Interactive Corp. etc. Hayman was also in charge of overseeing IBM’s acquisitions of over a dozen e-commerce and online marketing companies.
Craig Hayman expressed his delight at joining eBay Enterprise. He said that the organization has tremendous opportunity. He added that eBay Enterprise has been a long time customer of IBM and its fulfillment centers, drop-ship and ship-from-store capabilities are uniquely suited to help retailers provide better service to their customers.
eBay Enterprise includes GSI Commerce and e-retailers use it for order management, fulfillment, marketing, customer service, payment systems and content management services. 23 out of the Top 500 e-retailers use eBay Enterprise as their e-commerce platform provider. However, IBM has more users as 44 of the top 500 use it and eBay owned Magneto, the open source e-commerce software is used by 34 e-retailers.
