Tennis (Rome Final) — In a bid to return to emirates ATP’s No. 1 Djokovic once again won the Internazionali BNL d’Italia trophy on Sunday. Yes, this is the third time Djokovic has won the Rome title. He beat Rafael Nadal who has been No. 1 by winning Foro italic seven times. Plus he won the ATP world tour 1000 clay – court tournament 2008 and 2011 titles. At this level, he has won 5 out of 7 titles.

Djokovic said, “Experience helped me stay calm and play the right shots at the right time”. In FedEx ATP Head2Head series Djokovic improved to 19-22 with prize money of €549,000. In addition to this he got 1,000 emirates ATP ranking points for 19Th ATP world tour masters. Djokovic (who is soon going to be 27 years old this 22nd May), is now at No. 13 with 44 crowns in Open Era titles list of the leaders along with Thomas Muster.  On 64 titles, Rafael Nadal bid to draw with Pete Sampras and Bjorn Borg.

He earned 600 Emirates ATP ranking points along with €269,150. For the first time since past 10 years, with his only European clay court title Nadal has made it to Roland Garros. His 2014 match record is 34 – 6 whereas Djokovic’s is 24 – 3.
