TCS makes it to global top 10 IT companies

TCS (Tata consultancy services) is India’s largest firm for software services. Now it has been ranked among the top 10 IT services companies of the world. Last year TCS held 13th rank and since then has moved 3 notches ahead. The company marked a revenue growth of 31.2% for the January – march quarter. The revenue rose from Rs. 16,430.09 crore to Rs. 21,551.09 crore in 2013. TCS market capitalization saw a surge to Rs. 4,34,338 crore from Rs. 10,529 crore last week making TCS the winner among the top Sensex companies.

The largest software services exporter of the country posted a net profit of 48.2% i.e., a jump of Rs. 5,358 crore. In terms of US dollars, this revenue amounted to USD 13.4 billion and net profit amounts to USD 3.1 billion. However in constant currency a variation from 16.2% to 17.3% was observed. The company recruited around 9,751 employees in the last quarter of the year. During the whole year 24,268 employees were added making a count of 300,464.
