We would have heard of Valentines Day, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day.. and so on. But don’t be surprised if if I tell you that, today is the International Ear Care Day (celebrated every ear around the world). According to WHO, more than 360 million people (a staggering 5.3% of the world’s population) are suffering from disabling hearing loss.
This Ear Care day has been introduced to create awareness among the public and prevent cases of hearing loss caused mainly due to human mistakes(like kids inserting pencils into their ears), as more than 50% of the hearing loss cases fall under this category. Apart from the fact that very loud noises damage the ear drum and cause hearing loss, researchers have found out that even inserting the Ear phones, too deep into the ear will damage the ear canal.
The theme for this year is, “Ear care can avoid hearing loss.” So, take care of your ears and spread the awareness among others, especially kids.
