Instagram rated as the most popular Photo sharing platform in US

A new survey has revealed that Instagram is the most popular photo sharing platform among the U.S. teenagers. Instagram was acquired by Facebook back in 2012 and that time it ranked 4th on the scale of popularity. The survey was conducted by a leading asset management firm Piper Jaffray. Followed by Instagram was twitter and snap-chat.
New York: Photo-sharing platform Instagram is the most popular social media site among teenagers in the US, reveals a new survey. The digitaltrends.com said, “Instagram was the most popular social site for 33 percent of teens. In second place was Twitter with 20 percent, and following that was Snapchat with 19 percent.” The survey was conducted on 9,400 teenagers whose average household income was $68,000. Out of 9,400 teenagers only 15 percent said they prefer Facebook over Instagram. However, across the globe Facebook is the largest and most popular social networking site.

Instagram now plans to give businesses more reach to their customers and therefore is adding a feature that will allow you to display video Ads of 30 seconds. The company said both the small and large advertisers will be capable of running their Ad campaigns starting this month. The ads service will be available initially in 30 countries that includes Mexico, South Korea and India. Apart from video ads, Instagram is adding another feature called ‘Marquee’which aims at quick expansion of your company’s reach for product launches, movies etc. in a short time period. This expansion has been introduced concerning Facebook’s plan to generate revenue from the ads.

Recently Instagram was in news for banning two trending hashtags “#goddess” and “#EDM” because of the users violating ‘guidelines around nudity’. A spokesperson said that the tags were being used by many people for sharing racy photos which is very against moral standards of Instagram. The spokesperson said, “We block (make unsearchable) certain hashtags when they are consistently being used to share images and videos that violate our community guidelines. It is also being rumored that many people were using this hashtag to sell Viagra pills. Earlier Instagram had also banned #curvy hashtag but ousted it after being criticized by the users.
