Facebook to include Buy option for making direct purchases

Facebook made an announcement last week stating that the social media giant is testing the new ‘buy’ feature that will allow the users to make purchases directly through posts and ads on social network. The feature was revealed on blog ‘Facebook for Business’. It also said that the ‘buy’ button will be added to the page posts and ads. However the feature is currently under trial and testing.

Initially few medium and small size businesses in US will be able to access the service. This option will be made available from this Thursday for specific products on the website. The Facebook mobile app will support the same. The button is placed at ads’ right corner according to an image shown in the blog post. It will be visible to you when you navigate through your news feed on homepage.

Clicking on the ‘buy’ button will open up a dialog box prompting you to submit the shipping and payment details. Facebook will transmit your credit card information that you entered to a third – party who will process the payments and pass the purchase orders to the merchant who in turn will ship out the orders. This feature doesn’t require leaving Facebook for making purchases.
